A well-established community, North Sacramento used to be a city from its incorporation in 1924. However, North Sacramento was merged with Sacramento in 1964 and has since remained a community/neighborhood within the bounds of the City of Sacramento. There are multiple neighborhoods within North Sacramento, including Del Paso Heights, Strawberry Manors/Fairbanks, Woodlake, The Flats/Noralto, Richardson Village, and many others. The community has become a very diverse population and covers a large area. Because of this, it has suffered from an identity crisis, but awareness and community action have increased in recent years to bring identity back to the area.
