A 32-mile parkway running beside the American River in Sacramento County is the American River Parkway. The parkway can be accessed off multiple exists on U.S. Route 50. Along the parkway are many major parks. Some of these include Discovery Park, Ancil Hoffman Park, River Bend Park, and William B. Pond Recreation Area. Within the American River Parkway is also an access point to Watt Avenue Access Park. This area is a popular location for aquatic sports including boating, swimming, wading, and fishing. There are life vests available to loan at the lake as well to provide extra safety for children who would like to participate in the water activities.
