Poverty Ridge Historic District Map

Poverty Ridge Historic District is a historic district that was located in the original 1848 street grid of Sacramento. It is located between 23rd Street and 21st Street. Between the years of 1868 and 1947, the Poverty Ridge Historic District was known and considered as Sacramento’s wealthiest neighborhoods. Joan Didion, and American Author known for her books and screenplays such as Run, River, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, and The Panic in Needle Park, also lived in the area on the corner of 22nd Street and T Street.
