Newton Booth Historic District, Sacramento, Sacramento County, California
Located on the southeast corner of the original street grid of Sacramento lies Newton Booth Historic District. It was named for after Newton Booth, and American entrepreneur and politician. It is predominantly made of residential neighborhoods including houses and dating back to the nineteenth century following World War 2. The area is very attractive, offering affordable and comfortable land and houses away from the busy Downtown Sacramento area. The area experienced a large building boom that lasted until 1949, and it eventually tapered off. In Newton Booth Historic District, there is also the former Newton Booth Assembly School, but it is now a private school and a focal point of the neighborhood.
