Folsom Lake, Folsom, Placer County, California
Found on the American River is Folsom Lake in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. Surrounding the lake is a large variety of wildlife including California buckeye, valley oak, monkey flower, a number of mammals including rabbits, gray foxes, raccoons, ground squirrels, black bears, and many others. There are also several bird species perfect for birdwatchers. The surrounding area is known as the Folsom Lake State Recreation area which surrounds the reservoir. While there are many activities that can be done in the area, 85% of all recreation visits are attributed to aquatic activities.
